Well it’s a busy start to 2017, and I have lots of events planned for the year ahead. Have a look at my Exhibitions page to see where I will be showing my work. There are many more to be added once I have confirmed all the details. I am also planning to lead a couple of workshops this year, One in Cowbridge and one in Carmarthen so if you would like to be kept informed please check back or perhaps sign up for my newsletter – You will find the sign up form right at the bottom of this page- which will keep you informed of any upcoming events.
My studio has been cleared ready for new work, and have already completed two small dog paintings which I will post soon, with details of where you can see them. I am holding a joint exhibition with fellow artist, Ceramic Sculptor Valerie Price-West in the Corn Exchange Gallery in Cardigan during the lead up to Barley Saturday. It will be our fourth consecutive joint exhibition in this lovely gallery, its becoming quite a fixture! I have an all new body of work planned for this, which I am very excited about. Joining us again will be one or two invited artists, including this year Rebecca O’Dwyer who hails from Cardiff. You can see her beautiful drawings on her website. The painting below is one of two sold pre Christmas at Sally Mitchells Gallery in Tuxford, Nottinghamshire. She has a fabulous gallery in an old coaching in called the Newcastle Arms. Sally has built a reputation as one of the finest Rural and Sporting Fine Art publishers in the country and I am very proud to have my work represented there. Most of the top floor holds a simply wonderful museum which she has collected and created called the Museum of the Horse and is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. There is a lovely little cafe in the courtyard, both original work and fine art prints by many top artists is displayed and for sale.
Very pleased that four of my paintings have been juried in to the Horse in Art Exhibition that opens in the Mews at Palace House, Newmarket, at the magnificent new National Centre for Horseracing & Sporting Art which was officially opened by HM The Queen on 3rd November. The exhibition is open from 21st November – 4th December, it should be a super exhibition and I am looking forward to the day of the Private View during which we are holding a live painting event in the town with the picture judged best going straight on to be hung in the exhibition. The Prize giving takes place during the Private View in the evening and looks like being a busy event!
The Coast Path at Greenaleigh Farm, Exmoor
I have donated the painting below ‘An April Day’ to raise funds for the Society – which is a charity – The painting is the prize in a draw which will take place during the exhibition.
I am working hard to produce new work for the upcoming Fayre Oaks Sale! Will soon be unveiling the next in the series of ‘Welsh Legends’ pieces, the superb Pendock Legend, look out on my facebook page for details coming soon!
As well as this I have also been busy with commission work, but can’t show any of these at the moment as they are all surprise gifts.
For my sins I am also currently the Secretary for the Society of Equestrian Artists, our main exhibition @The Horse in Art 2016′ will be held at the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing & Sorting Art, Palace House, Newmarket in November and as entries have just closed I am now busy processing the hundreds of entries from artists from as far afield as USA!
In the meantime here is one of the new works that will be available at Fayre Oaks. ‘Red Campion’ oil on panel 24cm x 30cm
I am taking my Iberian paintings to the Grange Equestrian Centre, Okehampton, Devon on the 3rd and 4th September for the South West Iberian Show. https://www.facebook.com/southwestiberianshow/?fref=ts I will be painting live at the event and I am really looking forward to seeing the horses, especially the Gala Performance in the evening. I missed the GBPRE Championship Show at Hartpury this year as it clashed with another work event. Hopefully I will get there next year! It was an incredible, wonderful trip organised by Sherene Rahmatallah of Sussex Lusitanos www.sussexlusitanos.co.uk to Golega in Portugal some 11 years ago that started off my passion for Iberian Horses.
Working on some new pieces for this event but this is one that I will be taking. “In the School at Golega” Oil on Canvas 30″ x 36″
